Mankind, per se, fears the expansiveness of darkness as it reflects the individual, personal areas of self that have yet to be explored. The incomprehensible aspect(s) of darkness are presented as ‘anti-life’ within many aspects of modern society. Yet, there is not any tangible place nor any tangible thing that is not sustained by the matrix of darkness. To gain understanding of life and self is to gain understanding of darkness. Darkness, as (the) milieu from which creation arises is inherently, boundlessly, timelessly existent. To abhor or to fear personal darkness is to be at odds with self.
Humankind is comfortable dealing with the apparently obvious and does not do well, on a collective level, with introspective exploration. To deal with the visible is easy, it is straightforward and does not require guesswork. A person often struggles when tasked to sit and come to grips with their own self. The depths of individual experience tend to harbor a darkness that many would rather not acknowledge. The inner self must be reconciled, the tasteful aspects and those deeply buried parts. It is the buried aspects of self that, once faced and resolved, can be sources of great energy, immense insight, and revelatory freedom. Human existence encompasses much darkness.

Darkness is considered to be antithetical to individual, societal and universal welfare. Darkness is relegated to the realms of things that are viewed as undesirable, unapproachable, or unnecessary. Darkness, as synonymous with evil, is malevolence that is associated with ‘demons’. It taken to be a corrupting force that must be withstood and overcome. Yet, what is considered undesirable in one instance may be wholeheartedly acceptable in another instance. Some entities, neither bad nor good in some ‘circles’, are equated with darkness and, by mental association, evil propensities. The darkness with which one struggles is something that already resides within themselves.
There is nothing in universal or earthbound reality that does not contain darkness. To think otherwise is to be relegated to the world of visible light driven, sense orientation. The world of light, daytime, is most conducive to diurnal creatures, such as humans. Nighttime, beneficial as well, is the time of sleep. The body goes through stages of repair, rejuvenation, and recovery during sleep, during the nighttime, when it is dark. Darkness, then, is an essential necessity for life and well being. Darkness is a quality found throughout the universe. It is connected to universal stability and continuity. Dark Matter / Dark Energy . . . as near undetectable, intangible substances . . . . are predominant constituents throughout the universe. Yet, darkness, although good, is still ill-regarded and vilified.

Darkness can be associated with expansive, immeasurable chaos. The depths of this chaos contain multitudinous ideas, possibilities, and forms that can be unearthed within the individual. This ‘chaos’, as darkness, is not an unbridled, churning, unorganized mass. It is experienced as the depth within which the essence of creative potential extends into all directions. One must settle themselves from within when seeking to understand (this) chaos. Basically, one is afloat in the vast expanse of potentialities that include personal darkness. One must not become overwhelmed by the immensity. They must come to see that this untapped expansiveness can be spiritually, mentally navigated through by accepting it ‘as is’, seeing it as it exists within the self, and obtaining from it that which can be beneficial.
Darkness is vast and expansive, physically and metaphysically. Physically, over 95 percent of the known universe is darkness (dark energy at 68% – 70%, dark matter at 26.8%). The substrate which underlies all creation in Kemetic Religious Mythology is expressed in terms of incomprehensible darkness, timeless infinity, depthless waters, and space beyond definition . In Kabbalah, creation emerges from the the realms of negative existence (Triple Blackness of Space) defined as the Unfathomable, Unknowable, Unsearchable Void, the Absolute, Abstract Space, and the Limitless Light. These descriptions of darkness are indicative of the unending potential that darkness contains.. Inner darkness, on an energetic level, is a resource that can provide powerful potentialities once realized as an integral part of personal being.

Darkness is quality that is (near) indeterminable on the physical level and (often) unconsciously hidden on the spiritual level. Darkness and chaos, typically equated based on their incapacity to be fully comprehended, are embraced as integral to personal well being. All of material existence is composed of space (darkness) which is unrecognizable due to fixation on the, tangibility of sense reality. That there is nothing to be gained on any level from darkness is a viewpoint running as an undercurrent throughout society. People would benefit from bouts of introspection because their inner, darker aspects could be more effectually observed. The disharmony within the individual self is a symptom the misunderstanding and vilification of darkness, particularly inner darkness: it need not be so as it can be resolved.
